Swiped

When you first lay down your paste, sometimes the texture looks good enough as it is! If you like a minimal aesthetic, you can leave this to dry. The direction you swipe will give different effects across the piece.

Dappled

Use your palette knife to make repetitive marks either in an orderly line or scattered randomly over the canvas.

Grid

Make sure to not apply a paste background. Gather a consistent amount of plaster on the underside of the palette knife, about the size of a marble. Lightly push this down onto the canvas, swipe downwards and then release.
