This product is very cute. It succeeds in inspiring creativity amongst partners for a fun date night. The only thing where I think it falls short is the time requirement. The clay needs at least 48 hours to dry, then the priming layer of paint needs to dry, then the painted designs, then the varnish. What seems like a cute date night turns into a date week almost. That’s not a bad thing, so much as it is a time commitment. Just something to consider before buying :)
I was so excited for this product. Purchased the kit as a gift for valentine day for my girlfriend. We had fun making the items, it was harder than we thought but overall very cool. I made a bedside tray, my girlfriend made a vase exactly as instructed. We let them dry for three days. I also have years of ceramics experience from high school so was skeptical of the air dry clay but took their word for it.
We painted the items on the fourth day and were super happy with them. I got flowers for my girlfriends vase like a good boyfriend and set my tray up to throw keys and wallet into at my bedside.
First the tray, for whatever reason the paint doesn’t dry well. It’s super tacky and sticky. I can’t use the tray as it ripped the leather off my wallet when I left it in there overnight. Larger issue with the vase. It’s not waterproof at all. The bottom has completely morphed, the paint is bubbled, and it can’t be used. The bottom of it is soft from the water and really doesn’t work for anything besides a paper weight. Spent almost 100$ on this and should have just gone out to dinner. Complete waste of money for two non-functional items made exactly as the instructions said
We loved it
Loved crafting these with my boyfriend!! Such a fun and unique date activity. And you get a lasting memory. I made bookends, he made me a scrunchy holder and we still have leftover clay for some other creation!
